Hi Betty, I have just learned of Boots’ passing and my sincerest condolences to you and the family. I have fond memories of Boots while working at Queen’s Park Hospital in the eighties. He was a great guy – hard working, honest and not afraid of offering his opinions (which were normally right on the mark). May he rest in peace but may his music live on forever in our hearts.
Sincerely
Bruce

Betty I will always remember Boots’s humor at work and away from work, also his support when there was rough times in my life. He was always there for others and was just a really great guy. There is great music in heaven now and he will be missed. Take care of yourself.

Dear Betty and family – I echo Gale’s sentiments. My wife Judy, daughter Amanda and I played in the Golden Ears Jazz Band with Boots. He was absolutely amazing in being able to create wonderful solos off the top of his head and was quite willing to share his experiences and techniques with us, making us better players. But he was so much more than that. He was very special to us and we will miss him greatly. Our hearts go out to all of you.

Dear Aunty Betty and family. Please accept my expression of deepest sympathy and my condolences on the loss of our dear Boots. His passing came as a great shock to me.
One never knows quite what another individual will bring to their life. Boots is for me an example of just how much one man’s “joie de vivre” can influence another’s. Boots and I shared a love of music. Within days of meeting he bought me a Jean-Luc Ponty album – my first jazz LP. He dedicated this album writing on the cover, “May this music bring you hours of enjoyment” and signed it “Love Aunt Daffy and Uncle Boots”. These hours of enjoyment became months and years. Jazz music became my obsession. I will continue to think of Boots each day as I play my music and, as always, regret that he could not join me at the annual jazz festivals in Ottawa and Montreal. I know that this year, especially, he will be there with me in spirit. I will forever cherish his memory and what he has brought to my life. Boots, je vais me pencher vers le ciel pendant les solos de flûtes cet été et se consoler en sachant que vous écoutez le long.

Dear Betty and family:
I would like to offer my most sincere condolences at this time of sorrow. I will miss forever Mr Remillard’s smile every time he came to the pharmacy and with his kind voice telling me ” Buenos Dias Señora” and his “Adios, see you soon”. He was someone that you do not find every day and all of us who had the pleasure of meeting him are truly blessed. God bless you all and give you the strength to go through this hard time, my heart goes to you all. Sandra

Dear Betty (and family) – how terribly sorry to hear about Boots’ passing. I’ve had the honour of sharing some phenomenal musical interludes together with him. He was such an amazing musician – so talented and soulful. He was inspirational in the fact that despite his vast many years of musical experience, he wanted to “learn how to read music on the page” when he played with Golden Ears Jazz Band. Many musicians can “read” the notes, but it takes a special heart to create the music from within as Boots could do so freely. I won’t forget the joking around we would do while waiting between sets – with his devilish smirk and twinkling eyes. He was indeed a very special man who will be missed by many. My sincere condolences to all of you. Gale Yip

Al and I send our consolences to you Betty and all of
Boots family, children and Grandchildren who will miss
his love, laughter and hugs.
Having being one of the members of his staff, I remember
one incendent when all of his women staff members were
walking down the corridor and he remarked GEE BETT I
didn’t realize how short all of my women staff were. Just
goes to tell you great things come in small packages eh! I remember his joy of music. He loved the sun and always had a smile when he met you. He really enjoyed his staff and that was evident as he made us all feel like family and at ease. Will miss you and Remember you . Chris & Al
