Obituary of Beatrice Reed

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Beatrice Reed of Maple Ridge, B.C. on April 10th at the age of 96 yrs. Beatrice was born on March 26, 1914 in Bolton, England to her parents Harry and Beatrice Schofield. The family emigrated to Canada in 1924, briefly settling in Winnipeg. They then moved to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan where they spent most of their lives. Beatrice married Reuel Sudbury Reed on June 6, 1935. They spent the next 43 years in Prince Albert. Mom loved her family, gardening, sewing, cooking and baking. Everyone was always entertained royally at their house. Mom enjoyed weekends at the Lake cabin but spent many long hours working on the family farm. Beatrice was predeceased by her husband Reuel in 1978 when she moved to Maple Ridge. She is also predeceased by her parents, daughters Sandra and Maneena, and two sons in law Ken and Bill. Beatrice is survived by her daughter Elaine and son Winston. She is also survived by her daughter in law Daphne and son in law Dr. Gary Machan as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the caring nursing staff at the PATH unit at Ridge Meadows Hospital as well as Holyrood Manor. A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 17th, 2010 at 11:00am at Garden Hill Funeral Home at 11765 – 224th St. in Maple Ridge, B.C.
