Growing up Len was a ‘reoccurring extra’ in my life. We
got a few Christmas trees from this place near 240th.
At the riding centre he was there as I ran around as a kid and as a teen. He’d kindly pass forward riding advice, ‘quiet hands, long legs.’
And when we’d pass each other around town it was always a big hug and hello. I’ll remember Len for his big smile and that copper bracelet for arthritis that was on his wrist.
Such a good person to my family.
I’ll miss you Len, you’re a gem.

Dan Klassen, April 29-2017. I had the pleasure to work with Len at BC Hydro, he was a mentor to many of us young punks but was always willing to pass on his knowledge which was endless, a true gentleman but one tough Cowboy. I recall we were all in the machine shop, there was a Anvil that weight a ton, Len made a few $ betting us young fellows as he was the only one who good not only left it he could also carry it. Condolences to the Family

I always enjoyed our time together Len, playing crib and poker at lunch time made work at the steam plant bearable. You always would say, ” I thank you and my horse thanks you” for a favour done. As you ride past me and off into the sunset I’m sure folks will join me saying, ” There goes one great cowboy and one he’ll of a man”

Condolences to Len’s family , memories go back many years, we lived across the street and our kids went to school together. Len was always so patient as he taught my girls to ride. Thru the years as I moved away tried to keep in touch . He was a great mentor to so many, a true gentleman who loved life in a world that has forgotten to enjoy the simple things and how to slow down. He will be riding high up in the sky .

We were so sorry to hear of Lens’ passing. Our deepest heart-felt condolences goes out to the Fielding family at the loss of an “all round “good” person . I, along with Howie have very fond, fun memories of Len starting with the Lubbocks’ horse show and rodeo days, racetrack, PNE horse shows, trail rides, and many more shared times. The ALWAYS “willing and able” pair of hands are now at rest. ” Ride on there Cowboy”!!!

A man of sharp wit, snappy comebacks, and endless stories about just about anything. He was always there to help a friend, or even a stranger…loved his animals, and was ready with wisdom and advice for just about anything that involved horses. Len was one of the few people that come to mind when I think of the word “gentleman”. Although he could swap barbs and sarcastic remarks with the best of them, he would also be the first to open a door or pull out a chair for me. He always made me smile if I ran into him around town. It’s true what they say. The good guys do wear white hats. Miss you, Len.

Your dad was a legend in his own time. I remember when we shot this portrait at Jamie and Skips place on 236th he told me that he was colour blind and didn’t know the colours on this shirt, so I shot it in B&W. Len was a true horseman, and I remember him saying more than once, “It’s a long ways from his heart.”
He was honest and a man of his word. You don’t meet many like Len, and I am truly saddened to hear of his passing.
