Dear Debbie and Darlene,
We were saddened to hear of your Mom's passing on Dec. 20th. So ended our friendship with her that had spanned 40+ years. We remember with such fondness all the special occasions we spent together, your Mom was a wonderful hostess and made everyone feel at home. She had a quick wit, a love to chat and a readiness to laugh. Mom was a 'straight-shooter' and advice she proffered always came from a deep well of kindness in her heart. She worked her program all her days and was dedicated to caring for others with enthusiasm. She leaves a legacy of love for you both. In our calls to her recently she was profuse in praise of the care you have taken of her and she knew she was blessed indeed. Our hearts are heavier knowing that our post-Covid coffee date will not take place, she sounded like she was looking forward to it even though she was in pain. We will miss her, she was a lovely lady, inside and out. As we share your grief we hope the following quote will help ease the ache in your heart.
"Your Mother is always with you. Your Mother lives inside your laughter. And she’s crystallized in every tear drop. She’s the place you came from. She is your first home, and she’s the map you follow with every step you take. She’s your first love, your first friend, even your first enemy. But nothing on earth can separate you. Not time, not space ……. not even death!"
Remembering your mom with love.

I am do grateful to be the receiver of Vera's kindness and friendship over the years.
Vera was part of our Emergency Support Services team for many years. It only took a few minutes for her to infiltrate the group and start making close alliances and friends.
She had such a sense of humour, was always up for a good laugh or provide one. She and was so free with her time and kindheartedness.
I for one will truly miss her, along with the many ESS Volunteers.
