Betty was always my "second mom" as she and my mom married at the same time/ place and had daughters born the same year. My memories go all the way back as far as I remember, growing up in Coquitlam, then Oliver. Betty was always calm, cool and collected with a smile and quip to keep things light - even when her daughter Lillian (Deedee) and I would get into trouble playing. I will remember her for her cool colours she chose and her artistic touch. I am so happy that I got to spend time with her at the fundraiser in Maple Ridge for the Treasure Chest. Betty was one tough lady, and I will always respect her (and hold her close to my heart) for her selflessness. Will miss you Betty.

I was a figure skating coach in Maple Ridge and had the privilege of teaching Lillian. After I moved back to Ontario, Betty and I kept in touch. I have 3 of her beautiful paintings hanging close to my computer. I received a "Christmas 2021" poem from her that I will treasure. My condolences to her son. ehrt7

We were lucky to have known Betty since living on Maple Wood Street back in the 60’s. We shared many occasions with the Coy, Lange, Simpson, Neubaur and my family, the Wardrop’s. Very fun times those days.
My thanks to Betty for introducing me to our local arts scene and the many talented people in our company . While visiting some of the many shows she participated in I collected cards that the local artists made available. I save these very special cards for special occasions in my life. Every time I use one I think of Betty.
We will think of her often and fondly. Our condolences to your family.

Betty was a most supportive, kind and positive friend. I first met her when we were teaching at Yennadon Elementary and was amazed at her organizational skills and grateful for her willingness to listen, help, and share her knowledge.
Betty was an encourager and I valued her opinions in the art world. We were both members of the Garibaldi Art Club, the FCA and Fraser Valley FCA. She was a wonderful artist, exploring different mediums and sharing ideas.
My deepest condolences to Betty’s family.
With love,
Isabel Gibson

My deepest condolences to Brian, Bill, Bob and other family members and friends.
Betty and I have been good friends for 63 years...so good that we even had a double wedding! We always respected and cherished our friendship which I know I will miss dearly.
Betty was always a very giving and selfless person. Until her last day on earth she wanted to to make a significant difference and she certainly kept to her word. She also wanted her friends and family to know that and how thankful she was for their support.
I know she is at peace for the moment but soon will be busy with perfecting how angels should be painted!
Enjoy your well-deserved rest my dear friend.

Bettty was truly one of a kind! I knew her first as a teaching colleague at Maple Ridge Elementary, and we were art students together, as well, with instructor Aeron McBryde. Our art connections continued, especially once we were both retired. We belonged to three art clubs: Garibaldi, the Fraser Valley Chapter of the FCA, and our "Group of Nine," which was very special. We met regularly at one home or another for socializing, having a lunch together, and sharing/critiquing our art work. Betty was always so supportive and positive; she was a very talented artist and would sometimes offer gentle suggestions that were greatly valued!
She was so practical and pragmatic in dealing with her cancer diagnosis; in this aspect of her life's journey she also was very positive, but realistic. I never heard her complain; she always managed to be cheerful and to find something humorous to relate as she went through all of the experiences of various treatments. All of her family and friends will miss her, I know. Her faith and her strength of character were truly inspirational. To Brian, and to her grand- girls, know that she was loved by so many. Cherish the memories!!! Best wishes, Jean Abbott

Betty was a true friend. She was kind and generous and enjoyed sharing her notes and learning. Her organization of art materials was legendary. She knew where things were. I will miss her brightness and ability to listen carefully and her sense of humour. An untimely death for sure! I miss you Betty. Love, Joyce Campbell
