Obituary of Owen William Fuller

OWEN WILLIAM FULLER

DECEMBER 12, 1932 – JANUARY 29, 2022

 

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Owen William Fuller. Owen passed from death to life on Jan 29 and left behind an abundant legacy of service to the community of Maple Ridge.

 

The Fuller family were pioneers in this community and have enjoyed a very long and rich history. Owen worked hard at the family business from a very young age. Fuller Watson Limited has weathered many challenges and changes over its many years of operation. It started out as Haney’s general store, enlarged and became a department store, and presently operates as a furniture and appliance retailer. It continues to be a family-owned business and will soon be celebrating its 100 year anniversary.

 

Owen had deep roots in the Maple Ridge Baptist Church. His grandparents regularly hosted a small gathering at their home which was the beginnings of the Maple Ridge Baptist Church. Owen was a member of the church for most of his life. He was instrumental in the acquisition of property and construction of the Maple Ridge Towers – Baptist Housing facility for seniors.

 

Owen had many interests outside of work and was very passionate and energetic in pursuit of them. He loved boats and the ocean, enjoyed tending a large garden, appreciated community and family history and kept immaculate records, and spent many delightful hours chatting around the woodstove in his workshop, while working on old cars with friends.

 

Owen was the beloved husband of Margaret Fuller for almost 65 years. He was a dedicated and caring partner to the end. Owen’s children, Bruce (Linda) Fuller, Leslie (Mike) Dendys, and Noreen (Scott) O’Dell will miss him dearly. Owen leaves behind ten cherished grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

 

Extended family will be notified regarding the details of a modest “Celebration of Life” service, as requested by Owen.
