I’m lost for words… one of my fondest, funniest moments was when you tried to teach me how to play the bagpipes, you were always an inspiration to everyone whose heart you touched & will be greatly missed by all… RIP Uncle John, deepest condolences to the rest of our fantastic family, god bless xxx

Uncle John....a true gentleman who always wore the biggest smile. One of the most genuine guys with a story to tell and we all loved to listen. You loved your visits and your walks around seeing how things had changed and was so lovely to listen to you and Gran have your many chats remembering the good old times. Thank you for coming here to say goodbye to my Dad, he loved you very much and it meant the world to us, sorry we couldn't be there to say a final farewell. Wherever you are keep sharing your stories, playing those bagpipes and catch up with your loved ones...hope your having a beer with my Dad give him a big hug from us. Sending love to all your family.
Love Shell, David, Katie & Daisy xxxx

Uncle John.. where to start.. obviously having cool family that lives all the way in Canada was awesome.. although it meant we didn’t get to spend much time with you and the family over seas whilst growing up, we would hear of many of stories told of you by my Gran, my mum and my aunties and uncles.. each and every story ended in either a smile or a laugh, it was very clear you lead your life to the full.. these pictures were from one of the last times you graced us with your presence, you had us all in fits of laughter that night at a very sad and emotional time, the Legendary uncle John at his finest.. proving age is just a number.. out drinking most of us and keeping our Daitan on his toes in the ring.. although we spent so many miles apart you was deeply loved and it brightened up our day when we heard you was flying over.. it’s a massive shame I can’t be there today to pay my respects in person, it would have been amazing to hear lots more of them stories about your life from the family over there that loves you dearly.. up and until very recently you continued to make them smile around you by the countless amounts of phone calls you made to my gran in her massive time of need.. you are a true gentleman and the memories I have of you will always be cherished and will always make me smile.. forever in our hearts ♥️ Gary xx

Uncle john, what a wonderful man. You may have lived in canada but when you came to visit us in manchester it was like you had never left, it was as if we grew up around you, you were 'Uncle John'.
My dad was particularly fond of you, and i will be forever greatfull that you was able to attend his funeral. It upsets me that i can not return the favour. It was on my dads bucket list to come visit you one day and he never got the oppurtunity, something that i also wanted to do and now time has taken that away.
At my dads wake we all went back to the salford gym, to carry on the drinks and we even had a spar in the ring, me at 31 you at 83 you were light on your feet, fast hands i couldnt believe how fit and strong you were.
We loved spending time together when you visited, an eventful and fond memory of going to a thai boxing show in bolton i was cornering the fights you were sitting you ringside with my dad watching the fights.
Another fond memory was when me, debbie and the kids took you for food at what is now called media city, (when you left manchester it was salford docks). Lovely memories of you holding our childrens hands walking by the old docks.
Thank you for these lovely memories
Good bye uncle John, please say hello to my dad for me and enjoy a beer together
Love xxx

(Cheer, Beer and staying true to what's most Dear), but if only a single word can describe John Worthington, it has to be: GENUINE - even if he'd never give me any cookies at merely two years of age. You shall remain with us always kind chap, until we meet once more on the other side. The pipes WILL play again.
