Obituary of Catherine Elizabeth Joy Stich

Please share a memory of Catherine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Trina (Catherine) Elisabeth Joy Stich passed away on January 1st, 2023, in Maple Ridge, B.C., surrounded by her husband and family. She was 63 years old.

She was devoted to her husband Ken and happily married for over 14 years. She was stepmother to Jessica (Matthew), Jennifer (Dan) and Brandon (Amanda) and loved being grandmom to Jaclyn, Emma and Sophie.  Equally so, she was dedicated to her beautiful animals.

Trina was born on August 9th, 1959, in Vancouver, B.C to parents Frank and Ella (predeceased). She was the second youngest of the Stich family; siblings Carol (predeceased) Mary, Bill (predeceased), Bob and Elissa. She had fond memories of growing up in Oliver, B.C.

Trina worked as a Credit Analyst at the Royal Bank then settled into being homemaker and wife. She and Ken loved getting away with their dogs and spent many summers in their trailer camping on Sheridan Lake and alongside the ocean in Garden Bay. Trina had the gift of a green thumb as she was an exceptional gardener. Her fig tree yielded so much fruit Trina sold to local markets and her spring baskets were bountiful in color and fragrance. Trina was an amazing home cook and primary author of the Schmidt Family Cookbook. Several of her recipes are published in the book; family and friends alike have been trying to prep her delicious meals to no avail as her gift with culinary creation has proven difficult to replicate.

The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the hospice staff at the Baillie House, the Maple Ridge Palliative Care team and Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Center for their diligence and care.

A Celebration of Trina’s life will be held on Feb 4th, 11 am at the Garden Hill Funeral Services address 11765 224th Street, Maple Ridge.
