Obituary of Anne Ruth Fitzgerald

Anne Ruth Fitzgerald died Sunday morning, August 13, 2023. She was 80 years old, having been born on November 19, 1942 in Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia. 

Anne was a proud wife, mom, grandparent, and friend.  Professionally Anne was a highly respected radiology transcriptionist, but she balanced that with the life of a career military wife, living across the country and in Germany on  two separate occasions.  Anne found great pleasure in time spent with family and friends.  Most recently Anne’s “Walking Friends” were tremendously important to her.  Anne loved reading, doing crossword puzzles and watching sports.

Anne was preceded in death by her husband, John Ernest (Jack); her brother, James Cass; Sister, Peggy McInnis; sister, Louise Swan; and sister Hazel McNamara.

Anne is survived by her sister: (Dorothy) Hill of Port Greville, Nova Scotia; sons David Shirley), Jim (Kelly), and Sean (Marcy). She is further survived by grandchildren Laticia Nerdahl, Kelsi and Kieran Fitzgerald, and Quinn and Jack Fitzgerald, as well as many nephews, nieces.

Interment for Anne will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 22nd at Maple Ridge Cemetery, 21404 Dewdney Trunk Rd, Maple Ridge, British Columbia.  A video of the funeral service can be viewed by following this link, https://www.youtube.com/@StClareofAssisiParish/sreams, then click ‘Live’.
