November 18th, 1956 - December 12th, 2023
It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Juanita Kushner on December 12th, 2023 at Vancouver General Hospital surrounded by her loving family after battling long-term health problems.
Juanita was born on November 18th, 1956 in Nanaimo, BC to Doris and Albert Gauder. She attended John Barsby High School and then Nanaimo District Secondary School. She met her husband Mike in Vancouver at The Biltmore while she was still living in Nanaimo. Soon after, they got married in 1987 and moved to Vancouver where they had their daughter- Carla Kushner. She also raised her granddaughter Nicole Kushner from the time she was 21 months old, acting as a mother figure to her. For work, Juanita had her own house cleaning business for many years. Juanita was very strong in her faith and began attending Victoria Drive Gospel Hall in 1990. She later got saved in 2002 and taught the pre-school Sunday School class for many years. After retiring, she spent numerous years volunteering her time at The Salvation Army serving breakfast to the less fortunate. She spent her final year of life at George Pearson Centre in Vancouver where she made many friends and brought so much joy and positivity everywhere she went. Her contagious smile and unconditional love will never be forgotten.
She was predeceased by her grandmother Stella, mother Doris, and mother-in-law Alice. She is survived by her husband Mike, daughter Carla, granddaughters Nicole and Angelica, siblings Linda, Sheila, Larry, Kathy, Bev, Sean, and Alf, father Albert, aunt Shirley, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, December 20th, 2023 at Victoria Drive Gospel Hall at 1pm.
