Please share a memory of Edith to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Edith Lynne McCaughan, (Lynne), of Maple Ridge, British Columbia died peacefully with her daughter and family by her side, at the age of 80 on March 1st, 2024.

Lynne was born on April 18th, 1943 in North Vancouver, British Columbia to the late Vernon and Dorothy Pearson. In 1964, Lynne married the love of her life, Bill . They spent 28 years in the Canadian Military. Upon retirement from the Military, Lynne and Bill chose to settle in Brandon, Manitoba where they raised their son, Bob McCaughan, and daughter, Carole (McCaughan) Chen. Lynne was the family manager, running the household, taking care of finances, and being the best life coach/cheerleader to her family. She was an exceptional cook and loved her garden, and was a consummate conversationalist and entertainer. Lynne loved to host family and friends. Following Bill's retirement from his second career in 1998, Lynne and Bill spent several years wintering in Palm Springs California where they enjoyed time with Lynne's mother Dorothy, their Ramon Park friends, and hosted numerous family members over the years.  Most recently in 2005, Lynne and Bill moved to Maple Ridge to be closer to daughter Carole, and two granddaughters, Addison and Darrah. Lynne and Bill were married for 56 years at the time of Bill's death in 2020.

Lynne leaves to mourn; her son Bob, and wife Tracey, her daughter Carole, husband Derek, and grand daughters Addison and Darrah and their father Morris Chen. Lynne also leaves behind her brother Robert, (Bob) Pearson, and wife Maureen, nieces Sandra and Sheryl and families, and cousins. Lynne further leaves behind her family through marriage, sisters in law, Audrey and Helen, and brothers in law Burt and Pat as well as several nieces and nephews.

Lynne spent the last few years of her life raising her dog and companion Simba, who brought immense joy and happiness to her and those around her in her community. Lynne was a loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was compassionate, strong, independent, and while she would only offer it when asked, provided sage advice and counsel to those in her circle. Her guidance and support will be missed, however the presence of her love, fight and perseverant spirit will live in those she leaves behind.
