Obituary of Donald Franklin Charles Merth

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Franklin Merth of Maple Ridge, BC at the age of 91. Don passed away peacefully after a short illness on Friday, July 19, 2024, surrounded by his family. Don was born on November 13, 1932, in Regina, SK. Don and Julie knew each other from the age of 8 and married in 1955 in Regina where they raised their family. They moved to Maple Ridge in 2013 to be near family and escape the cold and snowy Saskatchewan winters. Don was a skilled woodworker and carver, as well as an avid reader. He also enjoyed participating in curling at the Golden Ears Winter Club when they moved to Maple Ridge. Don is predeceased by his father Frank and mother Ann. He is survived by his loving wife Julie (nee Kartusch), of 69 years; his children Kevin (Diane) of Mission BC, Colleen (Andy) of Popkum, BC, Michael (Sheila) of Regina, SK, and Glenn (Shelley) of Blind Bay, BC.; grandchildren Thomas (Kim), Carla (Arron), Peter (Maddy), Matt (Whitney), Greg, Kim (Spencer), Danny (Ashley), Jenna; great grandchildren Avery, Reagan, Ollie, Sloan, Rowyn, Leone, Ursa, Henry; his brothers Howard (Margaret) and Brian; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family welcomes you to join them in a service for Don on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at Garden Hill Funeral Home, 11765 - 224th St, Maple Ridge, BC.
