Obituary of Joan Mary Roberts

Joan Mary Roberts (nee Graham) 1930 – 2018 It is with great sadness our Sister, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Friend transitioned in Ridge Meadows Hospital on Thursday November 1st. at the age of 88. Joan is survived by her brother Bruce (Betty) daughters Susan (Ron) Petra (Dimitre) sons Chris (Kantima) Paul (Shauna) and daughters by marriage Theresa (Jim) and Heather (Trevor). Joan was born on July 14 1930 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In 1942 she moved with her family to Haney BC where she grew to love this area. In 1948 she graduated from Maple Ridge Secondary as their Carnival Queen. She married Fred Nielsen in 1951 living in Burnaby where they raised their 4 lovely children. In March 1967 she married Dave Roberts, added 2 daughters to her family, where they all moved to Port Moody. Along with this new change in life she began a work career becoming an asset and well loved by her peers. She was the most accurate cashier at the Hudson’s Bay, the favourite receptionist at Andre’s Winery and achieved top sales at the Cruise Ship Centre. She was a member of the Maple Ridge Seniors Centre and Legion. She enjoyed many social activities such as dancing, performing on stage and volunteering such as crocheting Afghans to be raffled. Joan’s celebration of life will be held at the Maple Ridge Legion December 1st 2018, 1 pm. No flowers please. Donations may be made to the Maple Ridge Legion or the Maple Ridge Senior Center
